Beer of the Week

Beer of the Week
Driftwood
Blackstone Porter

This London-style porter is distinguished by a bittersweet chocolate character derived from the delicate balance of a traditional sour mash and a blend of select black and chocolate malts.
This beer has just enough dark malt to be black. This Porter leans toward the dry side in its malt profile. The addition of a partial sour mash lends a subtle tartness to the bittersweet chocolate flavour that dominates.
Food Pairings:
•Oysters, smoked foods, barbecue.
•Mushrooms, onions, rosemary, thyme.
•Cheeses such as Stilton, Caerphilly or aged Cheddar
•Chocolate, pecans.

Driftwood can be found in Victoria on Hillside Ave.

Wine Of The Week- Painted Rock

Wine of the Week

Painted Rock
Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Tasting Notes :
Aged for 18 months in new French oak. It has aromas of cassis, black cherry, cigar
box and tobacco leaf precede very ripe dark fruit, leather and coffee bean.
The mid palette is intense, dark and yet elegant. Acids are very much in
balance and fine velvety tannins coat the entire mouth leading to a long
rich, dark cherry and chocolate finish.

For Painted Rock their Cabernet Sauvignon has done very well. The 08 is only their second release.
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon was the first Painted Rock wine to sell out long before it was awarded the 2010 Lieutenant Governor's award for excellence in B.C. wine. Along with the Icon Red.
After a Barrel tasting in May with John Schreiner he declared "for its coming second release 08 Cabernet Sauvignon  Painted Rock has done even better." He was impressed.

Named for the Pictographs that border their 60 acre property.Painted Rock is located in Penticton on the eastern shore of Skaha Lake.

Wine of the Week

Dirty Laundry Bordello

"A flagship of the playfully named winery, this small-production Bordeaux-style blend is finally available. It’s bone dry, with an essence of blackcurrant lifted by herbal tones that suggest tobacco, underbrush and bell pepper – I almost would have guessed a good dollop of cabernet franc had been added. Try it with steak." -Beppi Crosariol -The Globe and Mail

Beer of the Week

Gavroche

Gavroche is a strong, red French ale, in which the deep malt flavour and brisk hoppiness are very well balanced ; and the whole is gracefully accentuated by fruity flavours derived from a special top-fermenting yeast. This is a rare French example an ale refermented in the bottle.

Ultramour
Sweet and tangy raspberry flavours with this Belgian fruit ale.  Cupid on the label is perfect for Valentine's Day.

Wines of the Week
Forbidden Fruit Winery

We carry a selection of these wonderful fruit wines that would be a great complement to Valentine's day dinner.  Start with a nice cheese plate paired with the Ice Lady Mistrelle. Then crisp and refreshing Adam's Apple or Pearsuasion make ideal partners for asian dishes.  For dessert you could go with cheesecake and Impearfection or a chocolate and fresh fruit fondue with Crushed Innocence.
