Wine Of The Week

Merkin Vineyards Chupacabra Red 2006

A wine made in Arizona with Californian grapes at a vineyard named after a pubic wig owned and operated by rock star Maynard James Keenan (lead singer of the bands Tool, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle).
A Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz blend pours a deep, dark, rich burgundy.  The nose is stewed black cherries and earthy.  Flavours are earthy with black cherry, mint and baked bread.
As with most big Cab Sav/Shiraz blends pair this with rich meats like filet mignon or roast lamb.
