Laurent Miquel Wines

Laurent Miquel, the winemaker and man behind the label, comes from a long family history of wine making. Laurent is a native of Languedoc and his ancestors have been involved in wine making for over five generations. Initially Laurent pursued a career in engineering but later decided to root to his roots and went back to school to study Enology. This education combined with the help of his father’s experiences and wisdom, helped Laurent to create his vintage in 1996. "Historically, the wine flows in my veins," said Laurent Miquel."

Laurent Miquel is installed at the Château Cazal Viel, owned by the Miquel family since 1791. Located at the foot of the mountains Caroux, the vineyards can "develop subtle and varied wines." The climate calls for hot and dry summers which are often followed by a mild fall, thus giving rise to "beautifully aromatic wines, which are beautifully sung to their fabulous terroir."

Firefly Fine Wines and Ales in Maple Ridge will be having a complimentary tasting of Laurent Miquel wines on Thursday, March 4th from 3pm -7pm.

Sea Cider

Sea Cider was born from Kristen and Bruce Jordan’s shared passion for organic farming, cidermaking and cider drinking! They found a gem of a farm in 2004 – sitting high up on a hill overlooking the sea. With rich soil and a favourable climate, the site was perfect for growing the best cider apples in the world.

Kings & Spies- is a fruity but drier sparkling cider made with local hertiage apples.
Pippins- is made with newton pippin apples to give the cider a fresh fruit, crisp aromatics.
Rumrunner- is made a little different than the other ciders as it is aged in rum barrels. It has notes of brown sugars and spices which is perfect to keep you warm on a cold day.
Pomona- is a desserts-style cider that is made with crabapple juices at cool temperatures.

You can find the above ciders at Firefly Fine Wines and Ales in Maple Ridge

Driftwood Brewing Company was founded in the spring of 2008 by two very passionate and experienced brewers, Jason Meyer and Kevin Hearsum. They wanted to make and sell the kind of beer they liked best… beer that is fresh, brewed in the tradition of classic world styles but with the finest local ingredients. Hester Creek Winery

This winery is ideally located in the heart of vineyard lands known as The Golden Mile, and is one of the 'Grande Dames' of the Okanagan Valley.

The land saw its first vines planted in the late sixties, and was one of the sole properties to experiment with the European Vinifera vines, well before BC's mass conversion to Vinifera in the eighties. As such, the estate has some of the oldest European vine varieties in the country.

Hester Creek has 95 acres of agricultural land, of which 76 are under vine.

The opulent red wines they produce are the ultimate product of our vineyard and our dedication to excellence. These wines have for many years been widely celebrated and are the recipient of many awards. They are also proud to have planted within their own vineyard, Vinifera vines over 40 years ago that continue to produce consistently outstanding wines, and will do so for many years to come.

Firefly Maple Ridge will be tasting the  Cabernet Merlot  2008 as well as the Pinot Blanc 2007 in store from 3pm to 7pm on Saturday 20th February.

With Therapy Vineyards newly built three-story production facility which now houses new tanks and barrels, they have been able to increase their production abilities and are now able to produce 15,000 cases annually. Although Therapy Vineyards is relatively new to the wine industry, the vines that are grown on their almost 10 acres of land are not. Stag’s Hollow Winery

Stag’s Hollow Winery was established in 1995 and is nested in the hills, surrounded by vineyards, mountains and large tracts of land owned by the Nature Trust in beautiful Okanagan Falls.

The owners, Larry Gerelus & Linda Pruegger, are very hands on and “believe their passion and involvement in every aspect of the vineyard and wine making process has created a unique style. This unique style is a fusion of both Old and New world.”
Stag’s Hollow prides itself upon the fact that its wines express the terroir of the Okanagan, which has produced excellent ripening and fruit profiles.

2007 Simply Noir
An Okanagan version of the classic Passetoutgrain wines of Burgundy that combines the elegance of Pinot Noir with the spiciness of Gamay( 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Gamay Noir). It is a fruit forward blend with lots of cherry/red berries both on the nose and palate. Goes great with grilled pork loin, vegetarian meals, and turkey.

2007 Cabernet Sauvignon
Tastes of ripe, dark bramble fruit with a hint of Okanagan desert sage and Garrigue. This wine is well balanced and has bright fruit acidity that finishes with smooth silky tannins. This is a perfect wine to pair with BBQ grilled meats and vegetables.

2008 Sauvignon Blanc

Chase & Warren Estate Winery

Port Alberni, BC

Chase & Warren sold their first bottle of wine in 2003 but the vineyard was started in 1995 and the first vine planted in 1996. The aim of Chase & Warren is to produce wines that are reflective of the Winery’s rich natural surroundings and to offer a personal connection to the folks who visit them.

TAKE THE STEAM TRAIN TO THE WINERY- Chase & Warren is one of the only wineries in North America that is serviced by a steam train that stops right at the vineyard.

GEWURZTRAMINER - A 50/50 blend of Okanagan and our own grapes. The characteristics of the grapes from the Okanagan are complemented by those of our own. They produce a fresher, lighter more typical Gewurztraminer than wines made solely from Okanagan grapes and a more substantial, luscious, lengthier wine that wines made solely from our own grapes. The marriage produces a more fruity, complex and balanced wine which will enhance any Thai dishes. This wine will pair well with spicy foods and sauces.

VIOGNIER - This wine is made from grapes grown in the sunny Okanagan. A late ripener, the taste of Viognier is fruity, smooth and flowery and it is often mixed with red varieties because of its ability to add complexity and finesse to red wines. We know you will find its unique character something to discuss and enjoy with duck and roasted white meats.
