Beer of the week

Beer of the week: Russell Brewing Marzen

Brewmaster's Notes:
At 5.5% alc./vol. this amber-hued Lager has been brewed with Pilsner, Munich and Caramel Vienna Malts and Hallertau Hops.

The Marzen is classic beer style that is historically brewed in March to drink at Oktoberfest. Many years ago, Bavarian brewers halted production during the summer, when hot weather made brewing unreliable. Beer was stored in cool, dark cellars until the cooler weather arrived and brewing could begin again. To mark the beginning of a new brewing season, the remaining cellared beer barrels were tapped and Oktoberfest was born.
